Description
This 1998 BMW M Roadster is finished in Artic Silver over a black Nappa leather interior and is powered by a 3.2-liter S52 inline-six paired with a five-speed manual gearbox and a limited-slip differential. Factory equipment includes a black soft top, air conditioning, heated power-adjustable sport seats, and staggered-width 17″ wheels. This M Roadster has a Florida title in the seller’s name. The seller, a retired mechanical engineer and experienced mechanic, has owned and maintained the car since 2013.
This car is one of 742 produced in Artic Silver over black leather and features a power-operated and manually latched black soft top. The cabin is trimmed in black Nappa leather on the seats, door panels, dash, and center console. The leather-wrapped M Sport steering wheel fronts chrome-ringed instrumentation including a 160-mph speedometer, an 8k-rpm tachometer, and gauges for fuel level and coolant temperature. The digital odometer shows 112,000 miles, 35,0000 of which were added by the seller. The original window film on both window vents is beginning to peal.
The 17” BMW Style 40 wheels are mounted with Sumitomo Tour Plus LSW tires - 225/45 front and 245/40 rear. Tires have been on the car for 21,000 miles and have plenty of tread remaining. A four-wheel alignment was also done when the tires were mounted. A tire inflator is mounted in the trunk.
The 3.2-liter S52 inline-six features VANOS variable valve timing, dual overhead camshafts, and four valves per cylinder. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a ZF five-speed manual gearbox and a limited-slip differential. In 2018 at 99,000 miles, the transmission was completely rebuilt and the clutch and engine mounts were also replaced.
The Carfax report shows an accident in 2003 when the car belonged to a previous owner. The specific damage is not listed in the report. A close inspection of the backside of the front bumper indicates that the bumper was repaired in the past and was likely the result of the 2003 accident. The front bumper appears to be like new and there’s no evidence of the repairs.
