Seller Description

Doug's Take

The BMW Z3 M Roadster is a thrilling car that boasts a potent 6-cylinder engine, a mandatory 5-speed manual transmission, and an engaging driving experience. This particular example touts some nice equipment – including 17-inch Style 40 wheels, a limited-slip differential, and air conditioning. It's also been kept in dry-climate Texas since new, and it's also mostly unmodified, which are great benefits. We've seen this Z3 M once before, and it's always a pleasure to see a cool car return to us. Plus, this Z3 M is offered with the thrill of no reserve, so someone is taking it home at the end of the auction!

THIS… is a 1998 BMW Z3 M Roadster, finished in Cosmos Black Metallic with a black soft top and a black interior.

  • This Z3 M features a 5-speed manual transmission.
  • The attached Carfax history report shows no mileage discrepancies in this BMW's past. It also shows that this Z3 M has been registered in Texas since new.
  • According to the build sheet provided in the gallery, factory equipment includes 17-inch Style 40 wheels, a limited-slip differential, a power-retractable soft top, Nappa leather upholstery, power-adjustable and heated seats, and air conditioning.
  • Modifications reported by the seller are limited to later-model year taillights, clear front bumper reflectors and side marker lenses, Bilstein shocks, a Kenwood head unit, and Hertz speakers.
  • Based on the Z3, the M Roadster made its debut in 1998 with a more powerful engine shared with the E36 M3, a sportier suspension system, and wider wheel arches, among other changes. It was immediately hailed as one of the best driver's cars on the market.
  • Power comes from an S52 3.2-liter straight-6, rated at 240 horsepower and 236 lb-ft of torque. Output is sent to the rear wheels via a 5-speed manual transmission.

A build sheet is provided in the photo gallery, and a partial list of notable equipment includes:

  • Limited-slip differential
  • Nappa leather upholstery

This roadster just sold very cheap on Cars & Bids a couple months ago. All the photos in this listing are obviously screenshots from that listing. The new price seems optimistic.
