Finally selling my beloved black on black M Roadster. Purchased from the original owner in 2011, I've put 22k enjoyable miles on it over the past 5.5 years but have just purchased a 993 so it's time to let someone else enjoy it. In the time I've had it, aside from normal maintenance (synthetic oil changes per the BMW maintenance schedule) I've also performed the following long term care and performance items:
Flushed the coolant and replaced the thermostat, serpentine belt and idler pulleys, and removed the mechanical fan (popular fan delete mod including lower electric fan thermostat module) at 81k miles
Repaired the sagging glovebox and installed a new lighted M shift knob at 83k miles
Installed a Dinan Cold air intake (and the proper stage 2 programming) along with a StrongStrut strut brace at 88k miles
Replaced all of the seat rail bushings with Delrin and also added metal spacers to tilt the seat bottoms back a touch at 89k miles
Replaced the transmission fluid with Redline MTL and installed UUC (TME) transmission mounts at 90k miles
Installed a brand new top and rear window at 93k miles
Replaced the battery, spark plugs and valve cover gasket at 97k miles
Replaced the oil filter housing gasket and installed UUC clutch pedal bushings at 98k
Installed 2 new rear tires (Sumitomo HTR ZIII summer tires), new front pads (Hawk) and rotors and flushed the braked fluid just recently at 99k miles
The good:
I have a binder of all receipts from the purchase date (bought new from Livermore BMW in 1998) including the original window sticker.
The previous owner installed a $2k stereo system including an Alpine V12 amp, new speakers all around, custom designed subwoofer in the trunk, and all new wiring.
The previous owner installed clear European lenses on all corners and I installed stealth bulbs to correctly blink orange. I also installed black grilles into the hood.
I have the original BMW tonneau cover and OE BMW car cover for it.
The previous owner replaced the rear shocks with Bilsteins and while the front struts are original I think, I purchased Koni Sport inserts to replace them and those will be included in the sale.
The bad:
The car has been in 2 accidents since I've owned it, both not my fault and both low speed but they will probably show up on a Carfax as insurance was involved. The first was a roommate backing her car into the right rear fender in our driveway. The second was a careless motorist backing into the nose at an intersection. All repair work was factory quality done at Dell Auto Body in Campbell (specializes in exotics) and did not require any unibody repair.
The top motor currently does not work so I've been operating the top manually for the past few years. I am looking into getting this repaired and if so, will affect the selling price.
The subwoofer purchased/installed by the previous owner no longer works but the other speakers sound great so I never repaired/replaced it.
Car is available to view/drive in Oakland (Jack London Square) on weekends or after 8pm on weeknights
Thanks and please email with any more questions,
Peter
