Only 1,600 S54 M Roadsters were produced in 2001-2002. Stock from factory with 75 more HP than the 1998-2000 S52 M. The S54 out handled and out accelerated cars twice its price. This is one of the great driver's cars - AC Cobra-like in many ways. Scary fast, aggressive styling. BMW's best gearbox, and massive engine and brakes. Jaw-dropping torque and power, and braking 60 to 0 in less than 115 feet, yet capable of 17 to 25 MPG. Perfectly balanced at 50/50 front to rear weight distribution, hence the rear mounted battery.
