Seller Description

This 1998 BMW M Roadster was originally titled as a commercial vehicle in Illinois and spent its early years in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. It was brought to Poughkeepsie, New York in 2003 by the seller, who purchased it with 26k miles and has since added just 8k over his 15-year ownership. This roadster is finished in Imola Red over a two-tone black and red interior and powered by a 3.2L inline-six paired with a 5-speed manual transmission. An oil change was carried out 200 miles ago, and the car is now offered with a clean Carfax report and a clear New York title.

This example is finished in Imola Red II and has reportedly been garaged during the seller’s ownership. The finish is shown up close in a number of photos in the gallery below. No accidents or other body repairs are indicated on the included Carfax report.

Staggered-width BMW Style 40 wheels are mounted with a set of Michelin Pilot Sport tires. The black soft top is shown raised in a photo below, with additional detail photos provided.

Two-tone black and red leather is set off by chrome trim on the console, instruments, and shift knob. Modifications include an aftermarket Sony radio and CD changer according to the seller, and a soft phone holder is affixed to the transmission tunnel. A broken passenger-side seatbelt guide is noted by the seller. A Shark programmer is present in the glovebox but has reportedly not been used during current ownership.

Just under 34k miles are shown on the digital odometer, including approximately 7,800 added by the seller during his fifteen years of ownership.r

This early example is powered by a 3.2L S52B32 inline-six that was originally rated at 240 horsepower and 236 lb-ft of torque for the US market and is backed by a 5-speed manual transmission. Multiple dealer services with the second owner are shown on the included Carfax report. The seller states that the car has required only regular oil changes during his ownership, the most recent of which was carried out approximately 200 miles ago.

The original owner’s manual is included in the sale along with other period booklets, a guide for the Sony stereo, and three keys.

The Carfax shows no accidents over three owners including the seller, with the full report visible in the gallery below.

It looks really nice, but the price is way optimistic even if it were an S54.
