This 2002 BMW M Roadster is one of a claimed 125 produced for North American that were finished in Imola Red over Imola Red and black Nappa leather and powered by a 3.2-liter S54 inline-six paired with a five-speed manual transmission. Equipment includes a black soft top, a body-color removable hardtop, a limited-slip differential, 17″ RoadStar wheels, heated sport seats, air conditioning, and a Harman-Kardon sound system. Modifications include Strong Strut body, rear chassis, and upper-strut braces. The car spent time in Texas and Tennessee prior to the seller’s acquisition in 2010, and it now has under 36k miles. Recent service included an oil change and replacement of the accessory belt and the air filters. This E36/7 M Roadster is now offered with a hardtop stand, service records, a clean Carfax report, and a clean Oregon title in the seller’s name.
The exterior is finished in Imolarot II (405) and features a power-operated black convertible top along with a body-color removable hardtop. Enhancements that set the M Roadster apart from the standard Z3 include wider fenders, re-sculpted bumpers, and quad exhaust exits. Additional equipment includes front fender vents, clear front marker lenses, rear fender stone guards, and heated and power-adjustable mirrors, and the seller notes a paint chip on the hood and states that moulding on the convertible top near the rear window is missing. The included hardtop stand is shown in the gallery below, and the front and rear emblems were recently replaced.
Factory 17″ Style 40 RoadStar wheels are mounted with staggered-width Toyo Proxes 4 Plus tires measuring 225/45 up front and 245/40 out back that show 2018 date codes. The seller notes the presence of curb rash on one of the wheels.
The interior features heated sport seats upholstered in Imola Red and black Nappa leather, along with a matching dashboard, door panels, and center console. Additional equipment includes cruise control, air conditioning, M-branded floor mats, remote keyless entry, and a BMW Business CD stereo with Harman-Kardon speakers.
The leather-wrapped M-branded steering wheel frames chrome-bezel instrumentation that includes a 170-mph speedometer and a 9k-rpm tachometer, along with auxiliary gauges housed in the center stack. The digital odometer shows under 36k miles, of which approximately 5k were added during current ownership.
The 3.2-liter S54 straight-six is equipped with double-VANOS variable valve timing and was factory rated at 315 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. Service in July 2020 included an oil change and replacement of the accessory belts and air filters. A Strong Strut upper strut brace is fitted, and the matching chassis brace can be seen in the gallery below.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a five-speed ZF manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. Additional underside photos are provided in the gallery.
The September 2020 Carfax report indicates no accidents or other damage and shows history in Texas, Tennessee, and Oregon from two registered owners.
