This 1999 BMW M Roadster is a Cosmos Black Metallic car that has been provided with a Randy Forbes subframe reinforcement kit, replacement leather and cloth upholstery, custom 18″ Style 42 wheels, and TC Kline adjustable coilovers. Powered by a 3.2-liter S52 inline-six linked with a five-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential, the car is further equipped with a black soft top, heated Sport seats, a Harman Kardon sound system, a Mason Engineering clutch pedal, and a Turner Motorsport shift knob. The seller purchased the car in 2024 and has since added approximately 5k of the 185k indicated miles. This M Roadster is now offered at no reserve with a clean Florida title in the seller’s name.
This M Roadster is one of 109 that left the factory finished in Cosmos Black Metallic (303) over Dark Gray and Black Nappa leather for the North American market for the model year. The seller notes issues with the top motor and states that the black convertible soft top must be operated manually. The Carfax report notes that the car ran off the road and hit a tree in September 2013, and the front, right front, left side, rear, and left rear sustained “minor to moderate” damage. A previous owner reported installing a replacement left door and rocker molding from a base Z3 to address the damage, and the seller tells us that a ceramic coating was applied in 2024.
Silver-finished 18″ Style 42 wheel faces have been fitted with custom barrels and stepped lips and are mounted with 245/35 front and 295/30 rear Continental ExtremeContact Sport 02 tires. The car rides on TC Kline Racing adjustable coilover suspension with adjustable camber plates.
The heated Sport seats and the door panels were reupholstered in black leather and textured cloth in 2024. Amenities include a Harman Kardon sound system, roll hoops, air conditioning, cruise control, and a CD stereo. A Mason Engineering clutch pedal, a Turner Motorsport weighted shift knob, and a LeatherZ center armrest have been added.
The M-branded leather-wrapped steering wheel features tri-color stitching and frames a tachometer with a 6,800-rpm redline, a 160-mph speedometer, and gauges for coolant temperature and fuel level. The digital odometer indicates 185k miles, approximately 5k of which were added under current ownership.
The 3.2-liter S52B32 inline-six features VANOS variable valve timing and was factory rated at 240 horsepower and 236 lb-ft of torque.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a ZF five-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. A previous owner reported replacing the clutch and flywheel at 178k miles, as well as sourcing and installing factory mufflers during their ownership. UUC Motorwerks stainless-steel clutch lines were installed in 2024.
The seller tells us that a Randy Forbes subframe reinforcement kit with dual-ear differential mounts is installed.
The Carfax report notes the aforementioned damage.
