1998 BMW M Roadster (S52)
Production 04/98
VIN: WBSCK933XWLC86024
Mileage: 64,454
Title: Rebuilt (collision)
I purchased the car in 2018 from a guy who rebuilt it to OEM spec from front end damage. The hood and all the door gaps look normal. I personally couldn’t tell. The plastics behind the seats were all just about cracked through and the Vaders were in terrible shape, the motors would only occasionally operate correctly. I began modding the car to build a sporty track-esque weekend car. The car has never seen a track or autocross. I have a lot of competing time and financial priorities now and this project is just consuming garage space and collecting dust. It drives or starts at least once a month or so. I debate daily whether to keep it or not, but I think it’s time to go.

Issues:
-Engine code P0455 EVAP system leak – This code calls out a leak in the EVAP system. I have extensively trouble shot this including a new gas cap, changing sensors, and tracing tubing. There is no degradation in idle, daily driving or engine performance.
-Parking brake handle release button jams – The thumb button will jam and make releasing the brake difficult sometimes requiring a tool to release it. I believe it just needs disassembled and cleaned and readjusted.
-Front bumper cover damage on passenger side – Previous owner fiberglass repaired damage. Road debris hit this repair and reopened the “wound”. I have a brand-new unpainted aftermarket bumper cover to include with sale.
-Numerous small paint chips (1/4 the size of a dime) – A 27-year-old car has some paint defects. They are easily repaired. I was planning on paint prepping the entire car for a color change.
-Interior carpet on passenger side was cut – Unknown
-Other small cosmetic imperfections – OEM wheels were refinished by previous owner, some defects. Roundels and emblems are faded or stickers chipping.
From what I can tell, average retail is between $21k and $15k for clean title vehicles with high end vehicles priced around $34k. I realize that a rebuilt title immediately drops the resale value of any car, however this car hits the sweet spot where it is very affordable, has a lot of very well done and expensive mods, is low mileage and has zero reliability issues.
