1998 Z3M LS3 swapped for sale add
Price for the car as it sits: $18,750 (read below for more options to buy)
I’ve owned this car since July 4th of 2014 so its been with me for some time. Picked this up as the cheapest Z3M in the country at that time (maybe still today) and drove it back to Chicago (where it was always garaged). I’ll start with the bad:
Cons:
• Rebuilt title from 2006ish (I have pics of repair and everything that was damaged)
• No Soft Top
• No AC
• Rear trailing Arms are non M
Pros:
• Is very Fast, reliable and super fun
• Has tons of reinforcement done including Randy Forbes Dual Ear diff
• Has one of the best engine configurations you can get
I’ve daily driven this car at first, then started to track it back in 2016. I eventually swapped a S54 in and used it as a track car with that. Eventually pulled the s54 and swapped in a dry sump Ls2/3. Since Late 2024, I have been using a different car as my track car (another z3 coupe) so this thing does not get the time or attention it deserves.
In the interest of keeping it, I removed the CAE shifter and my Recaro seats and replaced them with a factory shifter and whatever z3 factory mismatched seats that I had on hand.
Currently, the car has APEX wheels on it that are 17x9 245 front and 17x9.5 275 rear with Pilot Super Sports. Should you want this as a track focused car, all you have to do is throw your own seats in and go enjoy any track event. If you want to street drive it, its ready as is (or find better seats).
It is 100% reliable as it sits today, needs absolutely nothing. I would have no hesitation to jump in and drive it across the country. I’ve personally put many track miles and street miles (7 thousand) over the last 5 years. It doesn’t get driven much now a days so I keep it at my business partners house in Highland Park IL (which is where you can view it).
You can purchase the car in a number of different ways. Here are some options:
As is with everything listed: $18,750
No engine/dry sump/no aim system (you keep transmission): $11,000
Rolling shell with all suspension (no diff, no aim, no trans, no front brakes): $7,000
I’m happy to discuss different variations with a potential buyer. Everything done to the car I did myself so please ask anything you might want to know.
