For Sale: 1998 BMW M Roadster SCCA Race Car. My Dad bought this car about 7 years ago and converted it to a race car - he competed in SCCA events at Laguna Seca, Thunderhill, Fallon Raceway, and other racetracks in Northern California. He was a lifelong mechanic and fabricator - he built sprint cars and champ cars since the 1970s. I don't know the exact class this car was entered, but it was cleared to run in these events with all the required safety equipment.
This car is no longer street legal as it has non-DOT tires and other street required equipment removed. It has been lightened - windows, carpet, heater, radio, soft top, wipers, lights, emissions control equipment, air bags, etc all removed.
The roll cage was custom designed and integrated with the Kirkey racing seats and 5-point harnesses. Has significant upgrades to suspension (adjustable camber), StopTech brakes and grooved / drilled rotors, Apex racing wheels (Original BMW wheels included), Hoosier R-7 Racing tires, custom exhaust, engine management computer mods, carbon fiber rear spoiler, front splitter - custom made for this car.
Completely new suspension with race quality bushings and tie rods, larger front sway bar, Bilstein and Koni shocks, front camber plates. Engine has M50 intake manifold, 24psi injectors, 40% larger Porsche mass airflow sensor, oversize pulleys, custom computer mod from Shark Injector Co, racing clutch, aluminum flywheeel, short throw shifter, and more. Also has a whole-car single point fire suppression system.
Fastest track times in this car with my 70 year old dad at the wheel:
Sears Point: 2.2mi - 1:56.4
Thunder Hill: 3mi - 2:07.8
Includes a racing harness and a tonneau cover that fits over the open cockpit. I have a folder of documentation of over $20k in parts alone plus hundreds of hours of custom fabrication put into this car (plus the cost of the original car itself). Have a clear title in hand - but as stated this vehicle is NOT street legal and cannot be registered.
