Hello and HAPPY HOLIDAYS! Offered for sale is my 2001 BMW M Roadster. As you may know, this car is one of 1,600 produced with the S54 engine, which boosted power form 265HP in previous models to 330HP. Car has only 60K miles and was religiously maintained by the previous owner and by myself. Mechanically the car is excellent, though I welcome inspections. Under my ownership it has had a new clutch and flywheel, VERY new tires with around 500 miles on them, and reinforced welding around the window regulators. Everything works as it should except for the blown Harmon Kardon subwoofer. MANY desirable high performance upgrades added by the previous owner, including TC Kline coilovers (the car is lowered a little), supersprint exhaust, Dinan stage 4 engine software, Dinan carbon fiber cold air intake, Dinan strut tower brace, Hamann rear spoiler, upgraded brakes, Antera 19" 3-piece rims (a little curb rash, I'm afraid), and possibly aome other things I'm forgetting to mention. If you're a purist and not into performance upgrades, this is not the car for you. If you are, however, this is a very sweet deal for obvious reasons.
I want to point out the car is not without flaws: there are some pin-prick sized rock chips on the rear wheel arches and rock chips on the plastic front air dam (the air damn can be resprayed for not much). You will like the paint, though, as it was a garage queen for its entire life under the previous owner. Also, their is a filled rock chip in the windshield (barely noticeable). As mentioned, the subwoofer is blown. Lastly, the plastic rear window is faded and should eventually be replaced.
Just to lay all my cards on the table, I bought the car 3 years ago for $26000, and have invested thousands in keeping it mechanically excellent. I would gladly keep it, but i need $$$ for construction costs on a project and my Tacoma is a great daily driver anyway.
I THOROUGHLY ENJOY THIS CAR AND AM IN NO RUSH TO SELL. If the ad is still up, the item is still for sale. No lowballers, tire-kickers, joyriders, scammers, please. Serious inquiries only, please.
If interested, leave your name, number, and a brief message.
Thank you for looking, and may your holiday be merry and bright!
Previous Listing:
Hello craigslisters! I'm considering trading my 2001 M Roadster with 58K miles for something different. I'm not in any rush, as I very much enjoy this car, but I want a different experience at this point and I don't want to go through the hassle of selling then buying again. I figure headaches are to be avoided and taxes to be saved if someone else has something I'd like to swap. I'm willing to throw in a few extra thousand to trade up a little.
Okay, so this is what I have to offer:
A steel grey metallic 2001 BMW M Roadster with 58K miles with thousands in upgrades by the original owner including:
-Dinan carbon fiber front tower strut brace
-Dinan carbon fiber cold air intake
-Dinan stage 4 engine software
-Supersprint high performance exhaust
-TC Kline coilovers
-19" Antera wheels (some curb rash)
-upgraded driver/passenger roll bars
-Hamann rear spoiler
-After market headlamps
I put in a new clutch, new flywheel, updated mounts to the transmission, new coil pack, and since the window regulators were having problems, which I'm told is not uncommon in these cars, I had the welds around them reinforced as per Bavarian Professionals' (in Berkeley) recommendation.
If you are familiar with this model, then you know only 1,600 were made and that it features the S54 engine (rated at 325 hp at 7,400 rpm and 261 lb·ft of torque at 4,900 rpm).
The previous owner always garaged this car. He also did the 110K mile valve adjustment at something like 46K miles. His reason for selling was that he was offered a high-paying tech job in china and could not take the car with him.
The paint is very, very nice, but please be aware that there are a few rock chips on the lowest part of the front plastic air dam and a few very minor scratches on the body, which I'm sure will not be major detractors if this is a car you want. YOUR CAR ALSO NEED NOT BE PERFECT, so don't be shy because of that.
The models I would be interested in are Porsche Cayman S, Porsche 993 cabriolet, Lotus Elise, Lotus/Caterham Super 7, Acura NSX, Dodge Viper, and perhaps other interesting sportscars that are within my trading range that I'm not thinking of. Your car would need to be a manual transmission with fewer than 70K miles on it, unless it's some sort of an interesting classic. It does not have to be cosmetically perfect. The usual wear & tear is fine. It does, however, have to be in good, reliable mechanical condition.
Scammers, con artists, let's not waste our time here.
Thank you for taking a look at my post.
