From Dan (and he has dibs):

I went down and drove this car today. It is the car that prompted me to feeler-list my S52. The story isn't as rosy as it seemed at first, but it's still a good enough story. Yes, it is a 1 owner car, and it does look to be in great shape. The car has been in an accident and the hood & front bumper have been replaced. The front fenders have been resprayed as well. The body work is well done, all the seams line up good enough, and all work was done using genuine OEM parts at B-Line in San Jose. The story is that the p.o. was pushed off the freeway when merging against a tractor trailer, and she caught a street sign.

It does have a lot of records, some dating back to new- but not all of the service records I had hoped to see, particularly regarding scheduled services and the body work. One big surprise that I didn't expect: the engine's been swapped.

Apparently it recently 'blew a piston through the block' so it's got a replacement S54 ( with approx. 59k miles on it according to the CARFAX on the donor car) - that said, everything works as it should, and with only a few little nicks here and there. A broken seatbelt guide, the updown switch on the driver's seat is suspect, but really only minor little things here and there. It's got brand new cheapy sumitomo tires which made it feel a little loosey-goosey on the road, but they're brand new and would burn down fast enough.

The broker and his partner seemed like really stand up guys. I trusted them, and think they've got integrity which is always good, but they were being pretty firm on their price, and that (combined with the motor swap) is why I didn't just buy it today on the spot. However, I still want dibs on this car. It's perfect for me.

Looks pretty good overall, and it's a plus that it's had just one owner. It's stock as far as I can tell. The price seems pretty decent.
