Seller Description

2000 BMW Z3 M Roadster
198,000 Miles
Silver/Blue Exterior, Blue/Black Interior
Black Soft Top
Manual Transmission
S52 3.2L I6 Engine, 240 HP

Owned since November 2021 and 189k miles. Clean title, registered, passes smog. Runs and drives fantastic, no mechanical issues.

This is a fun, affordable, sports car that has been a joy to own and drive.

The Good:

Previous owner had performed:
-Spark plugs and coilpacks
-Bilstein B8 shocks
-Vanos rebuilt
-Rod bearing service
-Slotted rotors and pads
-Fuel system cleaned
-Water pump and thermostat replaced
-Aftermarket subwoofer, speakers, and amp
-All bushings and engine mounts

Major work I performed during ownership:
-Stromung catback exhaust
-Oil filter housing gasket
-Power steering reservoir replaced
-Transmission fluid replacement
-Differential fluid replacement
-Battery replaced
-Tensioner pulley, idler pulley, drive belt replaced
-Alternator rebuilt
-Oil pan gasket replaced
-Front control arms and bushings replaced
-Steering rack replaced
-New soft top

I have a detailed sheet with all of the maintenance items for the buyer.

The Bad:
-Third gear synchro ring is slightly worn. It only grinds when it's cold and you're downshifting into third gear, so it's probably not even noticeable for most drivers. Double clutching prevents it from grinding in that situation.
-Driver side seat cover was replaced by a previous owner so doesn't match the original seat cover. Driver side is all black, passenger is blue/black. Both are moderately worn.
-Recently started vibrating a little at highway speeds. Likely wheel bearings and/or needs wheel balancing.
-Passenger rear wheel must be slightly bent, very slow leak, loses like 5 psi in a month.

The Ugly:
-The paint was very sun-faded when I bought it so I decided to try my hand at painting. Gave up after the bumper and hood, it's just as hard as everyone says it is. I'm going to be sticking with mechanical work in the future, haha.

The Extras:
-The original exhaust has two butterfly valves welded up before the mufflers. This is obviously not CA DOT compliant, so I replaced it. I still have it and the car is still wired up and has the switch beneath the cupholder if you wanted to reinstall it. The exhaust is included in the sale if you want it.
-Purchased a Randy Forbes subframe reinforcement kit with the intention of installing it, but never did. The trunk floor only has one popped weld, and differential mount only has a short hairline fracture, so it's not necessary at this point, but I'll include the kit in the sale, which cost ~$700.
-Primer, paint, and clear coat if you wanted to finish painting it. Paint is Porsche M5C, Miami Blue.
-Lots of parts, odds and ends, that have accumulated since purchase.

It's a project but all the pieces are there for a great driver. It's had a ton of great maintenance and also has some good upgrades like the Bilstein suspension and Stromung exhaust. The price seems very fair to me.
