Seller Description

This 2002 BMW M Roadster is one of 29 North American-market examples specified in Laguna Seca Blue over Dark Gray and black Nappa leather for the model year. It appeared on BaT in July 2017 and was purchased by the current owner in March 2018. A CarBahn Autoworks 3.3-liter S54 inline-six featuring CP Carillo pistons and connecting rods was installed in August 2022, and additional work under current ownership has included resurfacing the flywheel and replacing the clutch, pressure plate, throw-out bearing, rear main seal, auxiliary fan, clutch cylinders, and oil cooler and pump. A Dinan exhaust system, Bilstein dampers, and H&R lowering springs have also been added, while other equipment includes a ZF five-speed manual transmission, a limited-slip differential, 17″ Style 40 wheels, a black convertible soft top, heated sport seats, a CD stereo, a Harman Kardon sound system, and air conditioning. This M Roadster has 49k miles and is now offered with service records, a tool kit, a clean Carfax report, and a clean California title in the owner’s name.

The body is finished in Laguna Seca Blue. The soft top’s rear window was replaced in February 2024. According to the seller, the front spoiler, rear-left quarter panel, and rear bumper cover have been repainted. Wear is evident on the bottom-right corner of the soft top, and the seller notes cracks on the lower front grille and imperfections on the doors. Photos in the gallery show a chip on the front spoiler as well as finish imperfections on the nose.

Shadow-finished 17″ Style 40 wheels are mounted with Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3+ tires which show date codes from 2017 and 2018. Braking is handled by four-wheel ventilated discs, and the car is equipped with Dynamic Stability Control and All-Season Traction (AST). Modifications include Bilstein dampers and H&R lowering springs.

The cabin features Dark Grey and black Nappa leather covering the heated sport seats, door panel inserts, and center console. Amenities include roll hoops, air conditioning, cruise control, a BMW Business CD stereo, and a Harman Kardon sound system.

The M-branded leather-wrapped steering wheel features tri-color stitching and frames a tachometer with an 8k-rpm redline, a 170-mph speedometer, and gauges for coolant temperature and fuel level. Additional auxiliary gauges are stationed on the center stack. The airbag control module was replaced in June 2023. The digital odometer indicates 49k miles, approximately 12k of which were added under current ownership.

The 3.3-liter S54 inline-six features CP Carillo pistons and connecting rods, and it was built by CarBahn Autoworks of San Jose, California, and fitted by Bavarian Professionals in Berkley, California, in August 2022. Additional work at that time included rebuilding the VANOS system and replacing the crankshaft and oil cooler and pump. A Dinan exhaust system is also present. The auxiliary fan was replaced in June 2023, and an oil change was conducted in August 2023.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a ZF five-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. Work in August 2019 by Griffin Motorwerek in Berkeley, California, included resurfacing the flywheel and replacing the clutch, pressure plate, throw-out bearing, rear main seal, and clutch cylinders. The seller notes that the trunk welds/differential mounts have not been addressed.

The Carfax report shows no accidents or damage and lists registration history in Ohio, New Jersey, New York, and California.

Such a cool roadster! It's one of the few with Steve Dinan's Carbahn's 3.3L rebuilt engine. It's obvious an amazing color combo as well. Bidding up to $10,250.00 so far.
