Seller Description

This 2001 BMW M Roadster is finished in Steel Grey Metallic with a black soft top over two-tone black and gray Nappa leather. Power is from a 3.2-liter S54 inline-six paired with a five-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. The car was sold new in California, where the original owner drove it 15k miles over 13 years, and it was purchased by the seller in 2018. It shows just 34k miles, and modifications include three-piece alloy wheels, lowering springs, a three-spoke steering wheel, and a revised sound system. This E36/7 M Roadster is now offered with a clean Carfax report, its removed stock parts, owner’s manuals, and a clean California title in the seller’s name.

This roadster is one of 108 examples produced in Steel Grey Metallic (400) over a dark gray and black Nappa leather interior. Several body panel VIN stickers are shown in the gallery, and no accidents or damage are noted on the accompanying Carfax report. The front lights have been replaced with HID units, and the seller notes scratches on the front bumper.

Revisions include Speedline Alessio-style three-piece wheels, which measure 18×8.5″ up front and 18×10″ out back. Sumitomo tires were installed for the seller in 2018. Suspension modifications include Vogtland lowering springs, and the factory springs are reportedly included. The black soft top shows some separation along the upper seams of its rear window.

The interior is upholstered in black and gray Nappa leather, with heated and powered bucket seats. The driver’s seat belt guide is broken, though a replacement is included, along with the stock steering wheel. A replacement front driver seat rail bushing kit was installed in 2018.

The audio system features an added Kenwood Bluetooth head unit as well as an Alpine amplifier for the subwoofer. Instrumentation is trimmed in chrome with gray faces and includes a 170-mph speedometer, a 9k-rpm tachometer, and three auxiliary gauges in the center stack. The digital odometer registers just above 33,500 miles, 2k of which were added by the seller.

The 3.2-liter S54 inline-six was originally rated at 315 horsepower and is paired with a ZF five-speed manual transmission. The car was last serviced in December 2018, and a California emissions test was reportedly conducted in October 2018. Service in 2018 including a new camshaft sensor, accessory belts, and belt tensioners, as well as a power steering reservoir replacement and flush.

The seller had the clutch slave cylinder replaced this year. Additional underside images are provided in the gallery.

The Carfax report shows no accidents or other damage and lists registration history in Utah and California. The sale includes the original owner’s books, a valet key, and recent records.
