Seller Description

I am selling my relatively rare 1999 (manufactured 12/98) Dakar Yellow BMW M Roadster. I have had the car for about six years and knew the previous owner(s). For those that do not know, the M Roadster is the performance model of the classic BMW Z3.

Overall, the car is in good condition, but it does have some issues that are not uncommon for this model. I love this car, but I don't get to drive it as much as I would like, and I want to pass it along to someone who is interested in it. It is a great car for people who know and love roadsters and BMWs. I will try to be as clear as possible with its pros and cons.

The good:
- The car has had regular servicing completed, most recently at European Service Center in Dallas, and the S52 engine is in good condition.
- Car comes with standard M features including power windows, doors, cruise control, tonneau cover, etc.
- Clean title.
- Performance wise, the vehicle has been kept mostly stock, with the exception of the previous owner installing a cold air intake
- The vehicle has been garage kept with a cover for most of its life
- The subframe does not appear to have any of the telltale signs of wear and breakdown which are common in M Roadsters.
- The body and paint is in good condition, with a few small marks that can only be seen when up close
- The top is in good to fair condition. There are no rips and it keeps moisture out.
- I have done some necessary repairs and maintenance on the vehicle. Some of the recent fixes include:
- Giubo replaced last year.
- The rear plastic window was replaced in 2015.
- The original wheels were replaced with brand new OEM Roadstar wheels in 2010. They are in great condition, with very minimal marks on them.
- MAF sensor replaced in 2015.
- Pioneer stereo with AUX and USB input to use with smartphones.
- The glovebox has had been repaired to resolve the 'sag' that is common in Z3s.
- A very slight oil leak was repaired on the engine in 2015.
- Most maintenance items are in good condition: Michelo Pilot tires, A/C runs cold, etc.

Known issues:
- The power top has stopped working since last summer. I suspect this is due to a leak on or near the hydraulic cylinder behind the driver's side door. The pump activates when the button is pressed, but the reservoir is empty in the trunk. This should be a fairly simple fix and I may fix before I sell it. The top currently works in manual mode.
- While cleaning and waxing the car last week, I noticed a section of clearcoat is starting to separate on the trunk. The underlying paint is good, but I would recommend resealing it.
- As mentioned above, the body and paint is in good condition, but there are a few spots which are visibile upon close inspection. There are some very small paint chips on the front, and there is a bit of curb rash on the underside of the front right bumper. It is only visible from wheel height.
- The interior is in fair condition. It is by no means in terrible shape, but it will not be mistaken for showroom condition. Known issues:
- Both seatbelt guides in the headrests are broken. Parts are very cheap but replacing can be a hassle.
- The center console around the shifter has some cracks in it, and I would recommend replacing it. Cosmetically it does not look bad, however the window buttons are prone to fall into the center console.
- The driver's side window regulator does not stop at the proper height. It will keep moisture out of the car, however it can be a bit tricky.
- The door to the OBD port is missing.
- The seats are in fair condition. There are no tears, but there is some weathering and wear visible in the photos.
- Previous owner installed an amp and subwoofer in trunk. The sub has been removed but the amp remains unattached behind the passenger seat.

There may be some other small things, but overall it is a great and fun car. Please email me for details and any questions.

I appreciate how detailed the description is. You feel like you won't have any surprises with it. It loosk pretty good for the mileage and pretty much all stock. The price seems pretty good to me.
